Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Car in Casper on Highway 1

close up of bicycle.jpgMENDOCINO COUNTY -- According to Mercury News, an 82-year-old Mendocino avid cyclist was severely struck by a pickup truck in Casper on Sunday. This tragic accident happened along Highway 1 when a 1999 Ford F-150 driven by Sterling Bradbury, 18, of Mendocino, veered onto the shoulder of the highway and struck the bicyclist. CHP at the scene stated that alcohol or drugs, or the use of a cell phone were not a factor in the crash. However, following this tragic accident, the bicyclist, David Russell, was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where he was later died due to his injures.

Boy Tragically Killed, Another Seriously Injured in Vallejo Pedestrian Accident

The two boys, 8- and 12-years-old, were riding on one skateboard along Chapman Court, when they approached the intersection of Linfield Drive and collided with a Recology Vallejo truck.

Following the crash, the 8-year-old boy, "Clayo" Young, sustained major injuries and was transported to Children's Hospital in Oakland. And the 12-year-old boy, Joseph Tafoya III, was taken to Kaiser Medical Center in Vallejo, where he later died due to his injuries.

9-Year-Old Girl Fatally Struck by Car in Marysville

17th and Huston Sts - Marysville.pngYUBA COUNTY -- A young girl who was walking her bike on her way to school was severely struck by a car at about 7:44 a.m. Thursday, KCRA News reported. The 9-year-old girl, Julianna Villa-Hopkins, was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of 17th and Huston when her bike apparently fell. As she reached down to pick it up, that is when a driver of an SUV making a right from Huston Street and onto 17th Street seriously struck her. The young girl was airlifted to a local hospital after the incident, but later died due to her injuries.

Woman Critically Injured in Pleasant Grove Car Accident on Highway 99

Hwy 99 and Sankey Road.pngSUTTER COUNTY -- A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 99 in Pleasant Grove left a woman seriously injured Wednesday, The Sacramento Bee reported. According to the CHP, a driver of a pickup traveling southbound on Highway 99 at about 3:30 p.m. misjudged the distance of an oncoming vehicle when the he or she was making a left turn to eastbound Sankey Road.

The oncoming vehicle that was driven by a Yuba City woman had little time to react and avoid the truck. After the collision, the woman in the van, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to the hospital. Two other people in the van were also hurt, but suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the pickup truck had minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

Based on the information provided by The Sacramento Bee, it appears the driver of the pickup truck may be at fault for making an unsafe left turn. Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in El Centro Accident

5th and Main - El Centro.pngIMPERIAL COUNTY -- A collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck left a man injured Wednesday afternoon, Imperial Valley Press reported. The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at the corner of 11th Avenue and Main Street in El Centro, when a motorcyclist going east on Main Street collided with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck traveling west on Main and attempting to turn onto the southbound lanes of 11th Avenue. Following the crash, the motorcyclist, whose name was not released, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for further treatment.

Both Curley and Schultz were arraigned Monday on perjury charges for asserting that they were not aware of the alleged sex abuse.

In People Magazine, mothers of alleged Penn State sex abuse victims spoke out regarding the sexual abuse incident on their children. One of the victim's mother indicated that Sandusky touched her son during a shower together at Penn State, but no charges were brought after her son reported the alleged incident. Five Killed, Two Hospitalized in Home Care Facility Fire in Marina

MONTEREY COUNTY -- According to ABC News, five people were reported to be killed and two others hospitalized due to a fire at a home care facility for the disabled in Marina. The fire occurred in a small coastal community in Monterey County at around 11:45 p.m. Saturday. The actual cause of the fire has not been determined, but investigators with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were on scene at the request of Marina Fire officials. The identities of the injured and deceased involved in this horrific incident were not immediately available.

Valley Springs Motorcycle Crash on Highway 26 Kills One and Injures Another

According to KVML News, the driver of a 2001 Jeep Cherokee was traveling west on Highway 26 just west of Hogan Dam Road when for unknown reasons she crossed on the other side of the roadway and struck a motorcyclist and his passenger. The motorcyclist was reported to have died from his injuries, while his passenger sustained major injuries. The identities of both individuals on the bike were not immediately available.
