Four Killed in Fontana Car Accident

Baseline and Cherry Aves - Fontana.pngSAN BERNARDINO COUNTY - According to Fontana Herald News, four people were tragically killed in a multi-car collision in northwestern Fontana. The horrific accident occurred at about 9:35 p.m. Sunday when a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling eastbound on Baseline Avenue and ran a red light at Cherry Avenue. The SUV crashed into a southbound car - a 1998 Honda sedan - resulting in both vehicles spinning out of control. The SUV struck another vehicle and then slammed into a Southern California Edison power pole.

Following this horrific collision, two occupants in the SUV, who were brothers, died at the scene of the accident. One of them was the driver and the other was a rear-seat passenger. The two men have been identified as a 35-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident and a 39-year-old Bloomington resident. The third occupant in the SUV - a 37-year-old man from Fontana - was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, where he later died due to his injuries.

The fourth person killed in this crash, was Noah Ferrer, 11, of Fontana, who was a passenger in the Honda. The young boy was transported to Loma Linda Hospital after the collision and died while in surgery at 12:26 a.m. Monday. His 40-year-old mother, who was driving the Honda, suffered chest pain and was treated at Loma Linda Hospital. No reports were given if any occupants in the third vehicle were hurt.

The 49-year-old male pedestrian who resided in San Rafael, was hit after 9:30 p.m. by a 2001 Saab traveling east on 2nd at G Street. According to the Marin Independent Journal, the police found no indication the driver had been drinking. However, following the horrible collision, the pedestrian, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family, was reported to have died at the scene and the driver was not injured.

As she reached down to pick it up, that is when a driver of an SUV making a right from Huston Street and onto 17th Street seriously struck her. The young girl was airlifted to a local hospital after the incident, but later died due to her injuries.

Woman Critically Injured in Pleasant Grove Car Accident on Highway 99

Hwy 99 and Sankey Road.pngSUTTER COUNTY -- A multi-vehicle collision on Highway 99 in Pleasant Grove left a woman seriously injured Wednesday, The Sacramento Bee reported. According to the CHP, a driver of a pickup traveling southbound on Highway 99 at about 3:30 p.m. misjudged the distance of an oncoming vehicle when the he or she was making a left turn to eastbound Sankey Road.

The oncoming vehicle that was driven by a Yuba City woman had little time to react and avoid the truck. After the collision, the woman in the van, sustained major injuries and was airlifted to the hospital. Two other people in the van were also hurt, but suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the pickup truck had minor injuries and declined medical treatment.

Man in Wheelchair Struck by Car in San Francisco

The accident was said to occur at about 7:08 a.m. Friday, at the intersection of 7th and Harrison streets. Officer Albie Esparza indicated the pedestrian was crossing Harrison Street with a green light, but did not make it across before the light turned red. Officer Esparza also mentioned vehicles in three of the four lanes traveling west on Harrison stopped to allow the pedestrian to cross, but the vehicle in the fourth lane did not.

Following this tragic incident, the pedestrian, whose name was not immediately available, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver was reported to have remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police.

One Killed, Several Injured in Porterville Bus Crash on Highway 190

Following the collision, Laird was reported to have died at the scene, while the driver of the Dodge, Francisco Luna, 26, of Strathmore, and another passenger, Omar Ibarra, 21, of Lindsay, sustained major injuries and were airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Five passengers on the bus complained about pain and were transported to Sierra View District Hospital for further treatment.

Pedestrian Critically Injured in Southeast Fresno Hit-And-Run Accident


FRESNO COUNTY -- A pedestrian man in his late 30's was seriously hit by a vehicle at a Southeast Fresno intersection, ABC 30 News reports. The pedestrian, whose name was not available, was crossing at the intersection of Cedar and Butler around 7 p.m. when he was severely struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene of the accident, and therefore, police officials are currently searching for a metallic blue Toyota SUV, which will have visible front-end damage.

Following the accident, the pedestrian was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

La Habra Man Killed in Left-Turn Motorcycle Accident

The motorcyclist, Bryan Hodges, died at the scene of the 5:22 p.m. crash on Euclid Street and Country Hills Drive, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department press release. The initial investigation by law enforcement indicated that Hodges, along with another motorcyclist, was riding southbound on Euclid Street when a vehicle making a left turn from northbound Street Avenue onto Country Hills Drive pulled into the path of his motorcycle.

Lodi Postal Worker Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Accident

walnutstreethamlane.jpgLODI -A Lodi postal worker suffered very serious injuries Thursday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on Ham Lane, the Lodi News-Sentinel reported. The accident was reported at about 10:00 a.m. on July 7, 2011, according to the Lodi Police Department. The postal worker, a 50-year-old Thornton man, was in a crosswalk on the corner of Walnut Street and Ham Lane when he was hit by a vehicle. He was taken to San Joaquin County Hospital, where he was listed in in critical condition.

The Lodi Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. According to news reports, alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor, and the driver, who was not identified, was not suspected of speeding. Four People Hurt Monday Morning in Head-On Collision in Anderson
