Passenger of Motorcycle Killed in State Route 79 Crash in San Jacinto
SAN JACINTO - A woman was killed following a terrible single-motorcycle accident near Gillman Springs Road in San Jacinto. The Monday crash happened around 2 p.m. when the driver of a 2003 Harley Davidson was traveling at "a high rate of speed" on the northbound lanes of state Route 79, and then lost control on a curve on the roadway, Southwest Riverside News Network reports.
A 48-year-old female passenger on the bike was ejected and suffered fatal injures after the wreck. The driver, Thomas Donohoe, 69, of Hemet, sustained minor injuries. Alcohol or drugs was not believed to be a factor in the crash. However, CHP Officer Darren Meyer indicated Donohoe was operating the motorcycle with an instructional permit and not a motorcycle license.
UPDATE: The Riverside Sheriff-Coroner's office released the name of the female killed in this tragic crash. She has been identified as 48-year-old Suzanne Randa of Hemet.
Fatal San Jacinto Motorcycle Accident Liability
Operating a motorcycle with an instructional permit prohibits the carrying of passengers. Under the California Vehicle Code Section 12509.5(c): "A person issued an instruction permit shall not operate a two-wheel motorcycle, motor-driven cycle, motorized bicycle or scooter, while carrying any passenger except a passenger that is a licensed instructor or qualified instructor."
Therefore, in situations such as this one, the family of the victim would be well-advised to speak to a San Jacinto accident lawyer. If the family intends to take action in a wrongful claim, a truly dedicated and caring attorney at Estey Bomberger can help the family protect their legal rights. While there is no amount of money that can change what has tragically happened, an attorney can provide the assistance in recovering the maximum compensation for any financial burdens this may have placed on the victim's family, including funeral and burial expenses, loss of love, care, moral support, and companionship.
