Woman Struck and Killed on White Lane in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD - A 50-year-old woman died Monday after she was struck by a Ford Explorer on White Lane, the Bakersfield Californian reported. The fatal Bakersfield pedestrian accident happened in the eastbound lanes of the 2000 block of White Lane, near railroad tracks between Hughes Lane and South H Street. According to KGET News, a green Ford Explorer driven by 24-year-old Desiree Comstock was travelling eastbound on White Lane when it struck the woman, who still hasn't been identified. One witness said Comstock tried to leave the scene, but ended up returning to the scene to wait for police. Alcohol was not suspected to play a role in the crash. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Elderly Woman Injured in Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident

mingavenue.jpgBAKERSFIELD - A 91-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries when she was struck by a GMC Yukon SUV in Bakersfield Tuesday afternoon, Bakersfield.com reported. According to news accounts, Julia Ponce, the victim, was walking northbound across Ming Avenue at Hasti Acres Drive, when she was struck by the vehicle driven by Sheila Fowler.

The intersection where the pedestrian accident occurred did not have a crosswalk, and Fowler was not cited. Ponce was taken to Kern Medical Center. The cause of the February 14th Bakersfield pedestrian accident remains under investigation.
