Toddler Killed in El Monte Bus Bench Crash
EL MONTE - An 18-month-old girl died and her grandmother and uncle were injured after a pickup truck struck them while they were seated at a bus bench, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported. The fatal accident happened just after 2 p.m. on March 24, 2012, at a bus stop bench near the intersection of Valley Boulevard and Mountain View Road in El Monte. According to news accounts, the family was seated at the bus stop bench when a 59-year-old El Monte man attempting to park his pickup truck accelerated for unknown reasons plowed into the victims. The toddler died at County/USC Medical Center The grandmother and her son were reportedly in stable condition following the crash.
Cause of the El Monte Accident
The cause of this incident is under investigation by the El Monte Police Department's Traffic Safety Bureau. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. No charges were immediately filed.

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a collision with a vehicle Saturday evening in El Monte, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported Monday. The accident was reported at 5:17 p.m. at the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Bryant Road on December 11, 2010. The motorcyclist, who was not identified, suffered major head trauma and was taken to Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center. The cause of the El Monte motorcycle accident remains under investigation.
