Driver Killed When Metal Object Slams Through Windshield on Highway 55

TUSTIN - A 60-year-old male driver was tragically killed in Tustin Friday after a metal object crashed through his windshield and struck him in the head. According to The Orange County Register, William Donovan of Irvine, was driving his Toyota north on state Route 55 south of McFadden Avenue when a metal object possibly coming from another vehicle, slammed through his windshield and severely injured him.

One Killed, Two Injured in Orange Head-On Car Crash

ORANGE COUNTY -- One person was killed and two people were injured after a horrifying two-car collision in Orange. According to authorities, a Toyota Highlander traveling east on Lincoln Avenue veered into the westbound lane and struck a Honda Civic head-on at about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Following the accident, a male passenger in the Civic, whose name has not been released, was tragically reported to have died at the scene. The female driver of the Civic suffered unspecified injuries, and the male driver in the Highlander sustained minor injuries. They were both taken to a hospital via ground ambulance for treatment. Car Accident Injures Two in Orange

ORANGE COUNTY - Two people were injured in a terrible two-car crash in Orange. At about 7:55 a.m. Friday, a Honda Accord making a U-turn on La Veta Avenue was struck by a BMW X5, which then caused the BMW to hit a Toyota Corolla, The Orange County Register reported. Firefighters at the scene had to cut away the driver's side door and roof of the Honda to rescue the male driver. He was then taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana for treatment. The driver of the BMW also sought treatment as ground ambulance transported her to UCI Medical Center.

The collision, which involved four vehicles, occurred just before 3 p.m. near Warner Avenue and Newhope Street on February 14, 2012. One of the drivers suffered a head injury. The motorcyclist, Bryan Hodges, died at the scene of the 5:22 p.m. crash on Euclid Street and Country Hills Drive, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department press release. The initial investigation by law enforcement indicated that Hodges, along with another motorcyclist, was riding southbound on Euclid Street when a vehicle making a left turn from northbound Street Avenue onto Country Hills Drive pulled into the path of his motorcycle.

Ten People Injured in Interstate 5 Crash in San Clemente

I5avepico.jpgSAN CLEMENTE - Ten people suffered injuries ranging from minor to major following a multi-vehicle car accident Wednesday afternoon, the Orange County Register reported. The accident reportedly began in the fast lane of Interstate 5, near Avenida Pico, when the driver of a Dodge rear-ended a Nissan. The impact of the collision sent the Nissan into the No. 2 lane where it collided with a Mercedes-Benz. The 26-year-old male driver of the Nissan and five passengers in the vehicle were taken to Mission Hospital. Two of the occupants suffered moderate injuries, two suffered major injuries, and two suffered minor injuries. Four occupants of the Dodge were taken to UCI Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the Mercedes, a 55-year-old Carlsbad man, was apparently not hurt.

The cause of the June 15th Interstate 5 accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. According to news accounts, investigators believe the driver of the Dodge likely was likely not paying attention when traffic slowed in front of him. The accident was reported at 10:03 p.m. at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Katella Avenue in Stanton. According to authorities, the man, who was not identified, was crossing the road when he was hit by a Ford Explorer driven by a 35-year-old man, who also was not identified. The injured pedestrian was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.

Pedestrian Critically Injured in Costa Mesa Crash

sunflower-stevens.jpgA 23-year-old Costa Mesa woman was hospitalized with a severe head injury following an accident Tuesday morning in Costa Mesa, the Orange County Register reported. The victim was a pedestrian that was struck by the flying wreckage of a broadside intersection crash caused by a 17-year-old driver running a red light. The accident was reported around 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of Sunflower Avenue and Stevens Avenue.

According to news reports, a 17-year-old male was driving westbound on Sunflower Avenue when he ran a red light at Stevens Avenue. His vehicle struck a car travelling northbound on Stevens and a car travelling southbound on Stevens. A woman standing on the corner was hit by flying debris and critically injured. No one else was seriously hurt.

Cause of the Accident

Costa Mesa Police are investigating the cause of the crash, and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call investigators at (714)754-5264. However, if news reports are accurate, it appears that the 17-year-old driver is likely at fault for failing to yield to a red light. The July 29th accident was reported at 6:42 a.m. According to news reports, officers were told that a vehicle may have struck the motorcycle, forcing him to collide with another vehicle and knocking him off the bike.
