4-Year-Old Boy on Bike Struck by Pickup Truck in Palm Desert

The boy, who was with his mother at the time of incident, was crossing on his bicycle when he was struck by an eastbound pickup truck that ran a red light at the Fred Waring Drive and San Pablo Avenue intersection, The Desert Sun reports. The boy was immediately taken to an area hospital with moderate to major injuries. Palm Desert police determined alcohol was not involved in the pedestrian accident. And no reports were released if the driver was cited or arrested.

The victims were a 63-year-old Eureka man, and a 17-year-old Fields Landing girl. According to the Eureka Police Department, the March 13th accident occurred at 11:40 a.m. at the intersection of Fifth Street and E Street. The two pedestrians were struck by a 1999 Toyota Corolla driven by Josefina Maes, 70. Police stated that Maes has a medical condition which may have been a contributing factor in the collision. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Pedestrian Critically Injured in San Bernardino Hit-and-Run Crash

The accident was reported at around 8:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Sierra Way and 13th Street. The initial investigation revealed the pedestrian, who was not identified, was crossing the street inside the crosswalk when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. He suffered head trauma and internal injuries and was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The accident was said to occur at about 7:08 a.m. Friday, at the intersection of 7th and Harrison streets. Officer Albie Esparza indicated the pedestrian was crossing Harrison Street with a green light, but did not make it across before the light turned red. Officer Esparza also mentioned vehicles in three of the four lanes traveling west on Harrison stopped to allow the pedestrian to cross, but the vehicle in the fourth lane did not.

Following this tragic incident, the pedestrian, whose name was not immediately available, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver was reported to have remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police.

The accident was reported at about 10:00 a.m. on July 7, 2011, according to the Lodi Police Department. The postal worker, a 50-year-old Thornton man, was in a crosswalk on the corner of Walnut Street and Ham Lane when he was hit by a vehicle. He was taken to San Joaquin County Hospital, where he was listed in in critical condition.

According to the Ventura Police Department, when officers arrived they discovered a westbound vehicle struck the victim, a 16-year-old girl, while she was crossing the crosswalk. The victim, who wasn't named, suffered several broken bones and a concussion. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Steve Kass, 85, of Ventura.

Woman Struck by Car in Whittier Crosswalk

A woman suffered major injuries after she was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon in Whittier, the Whittier Daily News reported. Elderly Pedestrian Killed in Citrus Heights Intersection

CITRUS HEIGHTS - A 73-year-old woman was tragically struck and killed Wednesday night in a busy intersection, News 10 reported. The victim, Patricia Ann Erickson, was crossing the street at Auburn Boulevard and Halifax Street when she was struck by a white Nissan Altima heading northeast on Auburn Boulevard. The fatal car vs. pedestrian accident was reported around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Erickson was taken by ambulance to Mercy San Juan Hospital where she died of her injuries. Pedestrian Struck by Car in Lindsay

The car vs. pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of E Tulare Road (Avenue 232) and Homassel Avenue at 6:09 p.m. According to news reports, the pedestrian, Michelle Galvan, was crossing Tulare Road when she was struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Ronald Jacobsma, 47.

The bus vs. pedestrian accident occurred at about 6 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Pacific Street and Del Monte Avenue. According to news reports, Samuel Conboy, a resident of Monterey, had been walking in the crosswalk with a green light when the bus made a left turn from Del Monte onto Pacific and struck Conboy. Conboy was able to give statements at the accident scene and at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. According to the Herald, immediately after the accident, his injuries had not appeared life-threatening.

Two vehicles travelling south on Monroe Street stopped, but a 16-year-old girl driving a blue Ford pickup failed to stop, and struck two runners at about 40 mph. The two-teens that were struck, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, tried to jump out of the way, but were hit by the sides of the vehicle. The boy was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, and the girl was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital. Both students reportedly were alert and conscious when emergency crews arrived.
