Motorcyclist Injured in Highway 17 Crash Near Los Gatos

SANTA CLARA COUNTY - A motorcyclist was injured Monday morning in a crash on Highway 17, the Los Gatos Patch reported. The collision, which involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Honda, was reported at 7:07 a.m. at Highway 17 and Summit Road. The motorcyclist was injured and transported to Valley Medical Center in San Jose. Further details about the cause of the May 7th crash were not available. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Mountain View

shorelineandwright.jpgSANTA CLARA COUNTY - A man very tragically died Monday night after he was hit by a black pickup truck in Mountain View, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The fatal pedestrian accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m., near the corner of North Shoreline Boulevard and Wright Avenue. According to news reports, the pickup truck was travelling northbound on North Shoreline when he struck the pedestrian, who reportedly did not have identification on him. The driver of the pickup truck stopped and remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Cause of the April 9th Santa Clara County Pedestrian Accident

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident, and have reportedly ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors. According to the report in the Chronicle, police are looking for a woman who performed CPR on the victim and left without giving officers her name or a statement about what she may have seen. 54-Year-Old Woman Killed in Sunnyvale Pedestrian Accident

fairoaksavenue.jpgSUNNYVALE - A 54-year-old Sunnyvale woman was struck and killed last Monday night while crossing Fair Oaks Avenue in Sunnyvale, Mercury News reported. The woman, identified by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office as Abeba Robinson, was crossing Fair Oaks Avenue just north of El Camino Real when she was struck by a small sedan. Robinson died of her injuries at the scene of the accident, which was reported at 8:23 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011. The driver of the vehicle that struck Robinson stayed at the scene. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the fatal Sunnyvale pedestrian accident. Woman Injured in Santa Clara Street Racing Crash

SANTA CLARA - A 23-year-old woman leaving her job at a bowling injuries suffered serious injuries Sunday night when she was struck by a Mercedes involved in a street race, the San Jose Mercury News reported. The woman was reportedly leaving her job at the AMF Moonlite Lanes Bowling Center on El Camino Real and pulled out of a driveway and completed a southbound left turn. Her vehicle was struck almost head-on by a Mercedes driven by Vincent Mergonoto, 19. The woman was found unconscious inside her Honda, was taken to Stanford University Medical Center with critical injuries.

Maryland Man Critically Injured in Highway 85 Crash in Sunnyvale

SUNNYVALE - A 63-year-old resident of Columbia, MD suffered major injuries March 18th when his car went off the road on Highway 85 in Sunnyvale, the Sun reported. The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon in rainy weather about a mile north of Fremont Avenue. According to news reports, the victim, Peter Olsen, was driving a 2011 Kia northbound on the highway, when for reasons unknown, his car veered off the right side of the road and struck a tree on the shoulder. Authorities responding to the Santa Clara County accident found Olsen out of the vehicle and walking in traffic lanes, apparently disoriented. He was taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries, including rib fractures, a broken right forearm, a broken sternum, bruised lungs and internal bleeding. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the CHP at 650-369-6261 ext. 355. The cause of the Sunnyvale car accident remains under investigation.

Sunnyvale Husband and Wife Killed in Head-on Collision on Highway 152

CA-152.jpgA married Sunnyvale husband and wife were very tragically killed Saturday morning when the vehicle they were riding in was struck by an out-of-control pickup truck, Mercury News reported. The fatal accident occurred on State Route 152 in Santa Clara County, close to the San Benito County Line, at about 9:50 am. According to news reports, Jonathan Page, 32, and his wife Yu Wang, 29, both of Sunnyvale, were travelling eastbound on Highway 152, east of Bell Station Road. At the same time, a 45-year-old Aptos man driving a Ford pickup truck, was travelling westbound. For reasons not known, the driver of the Ford lost control of his vehicle and entered eastbound lanes, colliding head-on with the Civic. Both Page and Wang died upon impact. The Aptos man driving the Ford was reportedly not hurt.

Cause of the Highway 152 Crash

The cause of the fatal September 11th head-on collision remains under investigation by the CHP. However, if news reports are accurate, the occupants of the Honda were not responsible for this accident. The crash was likely either caused by the driver of the Ford, or some mechanical malfunction in his vehicle that caused him to lose control. In the course of the investigation, the CHP will look at factors such as speeding, driver impairment, distraction (such as a cell phone or GPS device), fatigue (falling asleep at the wheel), and any other causes.

Pedestrian Killed in Santa Clara County Accident

A 62-year-old Gilroy man was killed Thursday morning after he was struck by a Nissan Versa in Santa Clara County, authorities reported. The man, who was not immediately identified, was struck at the intersection of Monterey Road and West 8th Street in Gilroy, at about 6:10 a.m. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries a short time later. The driver of the Nissan was also taken to a Bay Area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A concrete wall, road sign and metal post were also damaged in the accident.

The Gilroy Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is investigating the cause of the fatal pedestrian accident. Although the incident remains under investigation, police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. It is not clear whether or not the victim was in a marked crosswalk.
