Pedestrian Killed, Four Injured in Marysville Collision
YUBA COUNTY - The Appeal Democrat reported a violent collision Tuesday night in Marysville killed a young woman, injured four other people, and knocked out pour to much of the city. What happened exactly is still unclear, as witnesses gave conflicting reports of the incident, which occurred at 8:40 p.m. near 10th (Highway 20) and F Streets, involved a Jeep Commander, a white Kia Rio, and two pedestrians.
Police believe the young woman who was killed was a pedestrian, although it is not clear if she was on the sidewalk or in the crosswalk when she was struck. Based on the information provided, it appears the driver of the Jeep travelling north on F street may have sped up to make a green light, but swerved to avoid pedestrians in the crosswalk, and broadsided a Kia Rio, before shearing a utility pole. The Appeal-Democrat reported splintered wood from the pole, broken windshield glass, and pieces of metal were strewn across the intersection.

YUBA COUNTY -- A young girl who was walking her bike on her way to school was severely struck by a car at about 7:44 a.m. Thursday, KCRA News reported. The 9-year-old girl, Julianna Villa-Hopkins, was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of 17th and Huston when her bike apparently fell. As she reached down to pick it up, that is when a driver of an SUV making a right from Huston Street and onto 17th Street seriously struck her. The young girl was airlifted to a local hospital after the incident, but later died due to her injuries.
